I am starting a new game project this weekend.  I have a story I have been working on called "Singularity of the Heart".  It is a story of a young computer scientist dying of cancer who manages to transfer her being into a computer.  She dies and the girl's presence spreads over the network and ends up on the main server of the hospital.  The hospital closes and is eventually abandoned.  Like most state property, the hospital's electricity is mysteriously left on (sadly a lot of abandoned hospitals still have electricity...what a waste).  The girl's digital self believes she is still alive and in the operational hospital.  She unknowingly creates a mirror of the world as she knows it in the computer.  Lonely, she reaches out to the internet.  She catches the eye of a local CS major on a popular message board.  Their love grows through their instant messaging sessions and web cam sessions.  She certainly seems real.  When he goes meet her at the hospital...he finds it abandoned and desolate.  Eventually he decides to go inside and looks for the room she was in, finding it obviously empty and abandoned.  He does however find a small PC still powered on and plugged into the wall.  Eventually after a period of investigation he figures out where the server room is located.  A few days later he reads in the newspaper that the hospital is going to be imploded, so he runs over to the hospital and sneaks past construction workers to get inside and back her up to an external hard drive.  He doesn't make it out uninjured however and ends up in the hospital himself.  Using his laptop he talks to the girl in the singularity that he saved on the external hard drive and figures out how to do the same thing to himself.  He puts himself in the singularity and with a small change to the code he allows their world and themselves to replicate across the internet so that unless the whole world's networks were to shut down, they would still be together in a perfect world where they can do the unimaginable.  Then he dies from his injuries.

The game is going to be mostly Visual Novel style game play with some RPG style elements and mini games.  I haven't decided on much other than the story.  There will be multiple routes and endings.  As well as other characters related to the girl in the computer.  It's going to be written with Microsoft XNA.  So if any graphics designers or other programmers are interested in working with me on this, I would love to have you along.

Thank you very much, I didn't always used to have the fine skills I have right now, but to see my story of how I got into woodworking, look at the comments on my profile page and there will be a lengthy one there that talks about how I started out, and how I got to where I am now. But still there are several resources out there for project ideas, and if you are looking into some power tools, tell me what you are looking at and I can give you a reasonable comparison with other brands to help find something that will fit your needs best so you can be happier with your tools.
